Thank God It's Fellowship (Hebrews 10:23-25, Hosea 4:6, 2 Timothy 2:15)

Rev. Keith G. TylerRev. Keith G. Tyler, November 27, 2011
Part of the TGIF series, preached at a Sunday Morning service

To get something out of fellowship, you need to put something into the fellowship. Often, we want to invite everyone's participation in events or projects that we are pushing or responsible for. However, when we are asked to participate in other events that are for the corporate good of the church, most are not eager to participate. All of us have something of value to contribute to the worship service, and to the fellowship. Fellowship is a formal gathering of people with a shared purpose. In the biblical sense, fellowship means partnership, sharing, to commune. In order to fully experience Christian fellowship, the center focus must be Jesus Christ. Christian fellowship is for those who have a hunger for righteousness. Fellowship is an opportunity for us to encourage one another. Remember also to confess your sins, because unconfessed sin will hinder your fellowship and your faith.

Hebrews 10:23-25

23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. (ESV)

Hosea 4:6

My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge;
because you have rejected knowledge,
I reject you from being a priest to me.
And since you have forgotten the law of your God,
I also will forget your children. (ESV)

2 Timothy 2:15

15 Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. (ESV)
